Anonymous / confidential birth
Safety for mother and child
In an anonymous birth, the delivery takes place with medical care, but without any personal information being recorded. This is intended to prevent emergencies in which the child and/or mother are placed in life-threatening danger due to an emergency or conflict situation involving the mother during the impending birth.
To ensure the safety of mother and child, the Schwarzwald-Baar Clinic, in consultation with the registry office and youth welfare office, has decided to offer anonymous births for women with imminent due dates. In this particular situation, the well-being of mother and child is the highest priority, even legally. A flowchart has been developed for this scenario. The clinic covers the costs of the birth in advance.
Mothers who wish to have an anonymous or confidential birth should contact the midwife on duty in the delivery room of the Villingen hospital directly. The child will be cared for by foster parents. The decision not to provide personal information can be reversed at any time. Approximately three to four confidential births are carried out each year.
A woman who has carried a child to term deserves the utmost respect – even if she wishes to remain unknown to her child afterwards!
